REQUIREMENTS TO MARRY IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS

1. The Couple must be 18 years old or older

2. The Officiant must be recognized by the Commonwealth

3. Couple must have a valid Marriage License issued by the city or town* (visit your City or Town Clerk's Office)
            ●Both Parties Must Go
●Bring Proof of Age (Birth Certificate)
●Fill out Application of Intent to Marry
*Does not have to be the city or town in which you live or in which you are getting married. There is a (3) day waiting period before you can pick up your license, and the license is valid for (60) days

4. Verify all information is correct when you pick up the license.

Your Marriage License must be retained by the Officiant so that it can be returned to the City or Town from which it was issued. The City / Town Clerk upon receipt stamps the license, this is the process that actually makes your marriage official. You can then pick up a copy of your license from the City / Town Clerks Office for a small fee.

As mentioned above, we do provide the couple with a Certificate of Marriage or Certificate of Renewal of Marriage that will be signed by the Officiant and your witnesses. We also will give you an attractive printed copy of your Wedding Ceremony.

The Officiant should receive your marriage license before the ceremony begins. It is the responsibility of the Officiant to make sure that the Marriage License has not expired as required by state laws.

We recommended that you put the Marriage License and appropriate fee for the balance due for your service in an envelope that should be held by the best man to be given to the officiant before the ceremony is to begin so that the information can be reviewed before the ceremony.

Your Officiant is available to attend your rehearsal, but only at your request. Although most couples choose to have a rehearsal now a days they are not required. The charge for the Officiant to attend the rehearsal is $100.00 in addition to the fee for the wedding service.

Your Vows

This pre-nuptial conference can be done in person ($50.00 Charge to be paid at the time of the conference) or it can be done by phone appointment for free. We can incorporate readings from family members and friends, we can involve children in various areas of the service. It is Your Day, and we will work with you to write a ceremony with dignity and respect of your wants and needs. Our ceremonies are non-denominational. Our services are all warm, special, loving, and meaningful. Although we also offer religious ceremonies for those that desire them.
